Energy Blooms Multi-Dimensions: At Bleicher Golightly Gallery; Test Pilots II Show

Bleicher Golightly Gallery, Santa Monica: Test Pilots II; May 23 – June 14th;
Opening Saturday May 26 from 8-10 p.m.

“Energy Blooms Multi-Dimension” by Karrie Ross; 30×30; mixed media on canvas

Artwork chosen:  “Energy Blooms Multi-Dimension”; 30×30; mixed media on canvas to participate in the show.

The Test Pilots II Show will spotlight artists that are “crossing into new territory…different approaches and techniques than explored in the past”.

Energy Blooms is not a new series. Two Energy Bloom paintings have won awards at previous local and national shows. In the previous pieces the energy blooms were black paint and I added many spirals in pencil and no color to, so they were more of the monotone look/feel with the focus pointing to the pencil work to generate the vibration.

The new pieces of which “Multi-Dimension” is the one that will be spotlighted, explores the Energy Blooms in cream paint instead of black,  with a splash of color as the resulting “real-like” flower which replaces the previously added pencil spirals. The flower color, form of line, and more ‘silent-like’ surroundings are now becoming the instigator of the energy vibration in the artwork.

This series continues to explore my fascination with energy in and around us and both the personal/internal and external stimulations. The multi layering of these works are entwined with each other, the cream Energy Blooms represent the vibration of the felt but not seen energy and what it creates is the real world flower, though abstract in form, it exists with color and a different relatedness through vibration for the viewer.

This series also demonstrates the planting of seeds. The age old nudge, the hint of suggestion, the growth instigator by use of the green/yellow, gold and black & white dots along the Continue reading

SOLD! “Exploring the Red Dot(s)” bustier by Karrie Ross at Gallery 825

SOLD! “Exploring the Red Dot(s)” bustier by Karrie Ross; 15 x 7 x 11; mixed media on plastic bra form

I am so excited that the bustier for Gallery 825 Sold and the owner will be enjoying it for a long time. This piece is inspired by a fascination with the red dot, not only just the simple dot but the concept of using a red dot to indicate a sale…  the back inquires if you have found yours yet?

I am currently also creating paintings within this exploration… the Red Dot. Why red? Red is a ‘hot’ color, it vibrates at a higher vibration and stimulates as Continue reading

Why a Red Dot? Karrie discusses her concept.

Why a Red Dot? Karrie discusses her concept.

A play on words and visual. I am forever following the red dot, in the flash of a camera or the sale of a piece of artwork, a red dot seems elusive and at times unreal. My compelling Follow the Red Dot series addresses the more abstract of the concept and actually gives you real red dots to follow on the artwork. This work does not embrace the inevitable or reference repetiveness or labor through mediums or refracts or confines. It explores your desires and dreams of… Sometimes falling and other times just sitting there daring you to look…closer …at the texture that surrounds IT (the red dot)…its universe…its life. The struggles and joys of line, drips, drops and dots reminding us we are all in this together. There is no elusiveness just what is and what is IS to follow the red dot wherever it leads…hope is around the corner and to continue.

Organic in nature, working with oil and mixing it with acrylic and pencil brings about the most raw of imagery and textures layer over layer of seemingly undone beginnings to the final …. Red Dot. Buy my Art!

I’m a Feng Shui practitioner and hands on healer. Both are about connecting with energy and vibrations. Red is a very powerful color, it’s hot. Red is a motivator. Red vibrates at a high rate. When you vibrate red it begins to break up and disperse…healing and moving.

The Exploring the Red Dot paintings bring the Red Dot to you. To your vision and vibration. The intention into the paintings is sharing the experience and what is found in my exploration. So as you view and become involved… somewhere inside you will vibrate in the connection… and be healed and/or moved. AND ,my intention is successfully shared.

When I meditate sometimes I see a red dot surrounded by purple or greeen yellow or blues.

Over the past 30+ years I’ve been searching for healing. It began with wanting to heal my body from the accidents that happened and expanded into the healing and expansion of intellect and emotions. What I found was a connection with the energy of the universe…and the vibration. Once I connected I realized I’d found home where within and without became one in the purest of energy. I am never alone. I play lots. And love to share the fun.

Energy Blooms keep me busy

I love this series. The abstractness of the flower, dancing, coming alive in the painting. Totally tranced, the blooms position themselves on the canvas with drips and spatters free falling around them… a dance a conversation…

then

pow… now I’ve added the drop-dot flowers, a stark whimsey color splash to take you to another place…

tell me what you think.

Breast Awareness Auction at Very Venice Gallery

Breast Awareness: Karrie Ross, Michelle Ferrera, and Rachel Partiali, all Los Angeles based fine artists, present their artwork in honor of breast cancer awareness month this October. Each of their art portrays a different aspect of breast awareness. Through their unique expressions, they each depict their journeys to health and healing. A percentage of their proceeds will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Inc.

Karrie Ross, Los Angeles fine artist.

Ross’ Spiral Series: Bustiers were created to continue the conversations she has with her breasts chatter and attitude…from their back, interior dialogue, to the front, visual imagery that is shown to the world. This is an ongoing cathartic experience for her as it brings her closer to her body in a new and special way…which has inspired a whole series of books that she is writing in the http://www.TheLifeDialogue.com series of which My Breasts Talking™ is the first, guiding her to a greater awareness of what makes us who we are. The “coming alive from the inside out.” Karrie Ross is a Los Angeles based fine artist who paints, draws, and sculpts art that fulfills the need for energy transformation.

“Conversations” Opening at the Topanga Gallery

The Topanga gallery show was about “Conversations”

“Conversations happen everywhere…between men, women, children, pets and especially in our minds within ourselves. We wanted to share this sense of communication and all it represents with those who visit the gallery and view our art during the show.

There was a sampling of the Bustiers, Portraits and Points… the show was met with rave reviews by all who attended, they seemed to really enjoy having their photos take with the Bustiers.

“Conversations” show by Karrie Ross at the Topanga Canyon Gallery, August 31 thru September 25, 201

There will be more images posted at a later date as the website is currently under construction for a new and more usable gallery function.

The Bustiers are talking on the Chicago Billboard Project

Chicago Billboard Project getting Breast Awareness images by Karrie Ross

Chicago Billboard Project. Ten cropped enlarged images from the Spiral Series bustiers and portraits have been chosen for the Chicago Billboard Project to air the whole month of October 2011. I choose to add the words “Breast Awareness” as October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And my images have a lot to do with breasts….the portraits emphasize them and the bustiers are all about them, the internal (back copy) and external (front artwork) dialogue that goes on.

I’m excited about this project, wish I could be there to see them ‘live’ in full size. There are not many things that can top the feeling of seeing ones art out in the world larger than life… here’s looking forward to more opportunities to show my artwork in similar displays. See samples below of other images in this display.

SOLD: “Oh The Two of Us”

Oh-the-two-of-us-SOLD: 2011 to Lori and Herair Garboushian (Karrie in the middle)

I’m excited to announce that Spiral Series: Bustiers:  “Oh The Two of Us” SOLD at the LAAA annual auction to Lori and Herair Garboushian of Los Angeles.

This is the first Bustier I painted/drew in this series. I started the beginning of this year and I now have 15 finished with more to come.

Being the first one, it was painted most similar to my Spiral Series paintings in its approach with the drawing and painting applied to the “canvas” of a plastic bra form. This seems to be classified as a sculpture since it is free standing  but I did not do the form. I plan to explore that avenue later. I consider this a painting/drawing.

Chain Letter at the Shoshana Wayne Gallery …

I had the pleasure to take part in the Los Angeles Chain Letter this year. I arrived at 7:30a.m., doors open at 10a.m. and was about the 10th person to go in and place my artwork in pretty much an empty room. Choosing the center of the big X pathway as the position for my sculpture. I decided to take one of the iron pieces in case something happened, it wouldn’t break.

The line really started to fill up about 9a.m. (part of it’s in the video below) and by 12:30pm when I left it was down one side and around the corner and back to almost the driveway entrance… long… No one knew how many artists would fit… at noon the main gallery was up to at least 500-600 and were starting to send artists to the two other locations in Bergamot Station, I was told they cut it off at 1,700… WOW! AND it seems that the drop off event caused a line to form on the I-10 freeway and they shut down the offramp… causing an even greater traffic jam on the streets. The city certainly was aware that we, the artist community, existed that day. Pick-up is the end of August… that will be another day of interest for sure…
